Sport at Branston

At Branston Sport is compulsory. All children get the opportunity to learn skills and compete across a range of disciplines.

Winter Competition

For a period of 10-12 weeks across the second and third terms all children play competitive sport against other Intermediate Schools at Hagley Park weekly on a Tuesday afternoon. The sports children can select from are Rugby, Rugby League, Netball, Football, Hockey or Squash.

Team Sports Offered

In winter: Rugby, Rugby League, Netball, Football, Hockey, Squash, Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton, and Table Tennis.

In Summer: Tennis, Softball, Cricket, Golf, Beach Volleyball, Swimming, and Touch Rugby.

Branston Blues

During the year children earn points for their achievements at school and in tournaments. If they earn 75 points during the year (a maximum of 25 points for any sport) they gain a Branston Blue, which is a monogram that can be sewn onto a school jersey. These awards are presented at the Prize Giving Assembly at the end of the year. Usually between six and ten children achieve this award each year. It is highly prestigious and only given to the top sports people in any one year.

Uniform

Dark Navy T-Shirt and Dark Navy Drill or Knit Shorts are worn for physical education and sports Team uniforms are leant to pupils for tournaments.
