About Branston

Branston Intermediate School caters for children in years 7 & 8 in the South West of Christchurch ie Wigram, Hornby, Sockburn, Upper Riccarton and Hei Hei. Enrolments are accepted from other areas in Christchurch.

We provide:

  • The opportunity for every child to develop and be challenged
  • Emotional support children reaching adolescence
  • The opportunity for every child to develop new sporting and cultural, interests and skills, including free music tuition during school hours.
  • A timetable which provides excellent transition from Primary School to High School
  • A staff with experience teaching this age group and with a variety of specialist skills which can be used to benefit the pupils both inside and outside the classroom
  • The facilities and staff to cater for children with special learning or social needs
  • Specialist music, science and dance rooms
  • A swimming pool, gym, library, computer suite
  • Bi-lingual education for those children whose parents prefer that option
  • An extension class for children with high academic potential or achievement
  • A technology department which offers high quality practical learning for our own students and those from client schools.
