The West heads over to the East - Earthquake Relief Day

On Thursday, 23rd June, Whaea Sam and Mrs Read took 38 children from the GRRS syndicate to help out over on the Eastside. We had 7 wonderful adult helpers who came with us, and some baking which had been done to give to the residents. The Student Army supplied a bus, equipment, and gave us Irene Street to work in. We spent the day shovelling silt away from front doors, garages, and back yards. It was hard, heavy work, but the residents told us we did a great job. This street is now in the red zone which is sad because some people have lived there for a long time. We hope to go again, but are waiting to hear from the Student Army if there is still a need for us.
